How To Use The Disciple Equipping Program

General Instructions

The Disciple Equipping Program (DEP) is designed to be used in an accountability relationship with a more mature spiritual believer discipling a new believer or someone who has never been discipled (Matt 28:19-20; 2 Tim 2:1-4).

DEP Level I is for the Development of Leaders in Ministry

DEP Level II is for the Establishment of Associates in Ministry

DEP Level III is for the Advancement of Staff in Ministry

  • This is best accomplished systematically working through the DEP starting with Level I Basic and progressing though one level at a time.
  • Schedule a weekly meeting to pray, discuss completed material and spiritual issues, and help lead the disciple through the material.
  • The foundation for discipleship is a relationship, so you must view this as more than academic requirements.
  • If you have the opportunity, it would be greatly beneificial to lead a weekly Bible study for the purpose of reaching many in a broad sense, but also to find the few that you may disciple intensely through the DEP.
  • The DEP is designed to be used with a local church (one which agrees with "What We Believe"), although the actual discipleship or Bible studies may occur in various locations.
  • For weekly Bible studies, teach through either the Bible books in DEP Level I Basic or the other books in DEP Level I Basic or Advanced.
  • Scriptures should be quoted word perfect and recited as they are learned and cumulatively when the book is finished (also Abundant Life & TMS).
  • Items in parentheses are optional and complementary.
  • It is recommended to use the King James or New King James translations for Bible memory work.
  • When memorizing, look up the verse in context studying how it is used so that you understand what you memorize.
  • Remember you are not making disciples of yourself, but leading men to be disciplined determined followers of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Note to disciplers - you can only take someone else as far as you have gone yourself, so make sure you have worked through the material first and are living it!
